Different Tying Methods:
While there are many ways to tie a head wrap here are a few of basics:
The Badu Head Wrap – This where if you have long hair you tie it in a ponytail or loose bun. You take a cloth head wrap, typically cotton, and tie starting at the nape of the neck working your way upwards. This look will accentuate the neck and hold all your hair close to the head.
Turban Style – A little more difficult, but this look creates a unique design at the top of the head. To start you take bristle brush and smooth out hair and tie it at the top of the head, particularly a bun. Take the scarf you wish to use and start at the back of the neck and cover the bun. Then tie ends around the bun. The excess ends you wrap around the bun in order to make the wrap secure.
Short hair or No hair – For those of us who are modeling short hair or no hair at all we still have an opportunity to wrap our heads. First, ball up some cloth that you can place on your head and will stay. Then take your desired head wrap and place it at the nape of the neck. Gather the two sides much like the turban style, but instead of tying the ends you will actually cross them. Take then ends to the back of the head and tie. You can leave the ends loose and let them hang down your back or you can tuck the loose ends into the back of the head wrap.
Below are videos of each head wrap, which explains in depth how to tie your head wrap.
